FAQ

FAQHere are a few questions that we tend to get asked on a regular basis, so to save you time, take a look and hopefully we can answer yours here.

How far will you travel?

We travel both nationally and internationally.

How long do you play for?

Typically we play for anywhere between 1 hr 30 minutes & 2 hours per event. This can be tailored to suit your specific requirements, for example : 2 x 45 minute sets, 3 x 30 min sets, 1 x 45 min + 1 x 60 min etc.

How much space do you need?

As a guide we really need a minimum area of 5m x 4m. The larger the area the better. This also needs to be a flat, solid, even surface. However, we understand that space can sometimes be an issue so we will always try and accommodate individual circumstances and settings.

How long do you take to set up?

The time it takes to set up (& pack down) can be done if need be in 1 hr. However, it is preferable to have 1 hr 30 mins to cover any eventualities. It may also take longer if the distance between unloading the gear from the vehicles and the room we are performing in is some distance apart (or upstairs etc).

What size venue can you play?

The Vanz can play at all sizes of venues. Please discuss the size of your event at time of enquiry.

What equipment do you use?

Along with the equipment for each instrument, we will bring our own PA rig. We will also provide stage lighting and dance floor lighting. We also have smoke machines & haze machines available if permitted by the venue.

What electrical power supply will you need?

We require a safe 3 separate 13 amp supplies for the band. If the event is being held in a marquee and a generator is supplying the power, then we will need a 32 amp supply for the band with 13 amp sockets attached.

Does the band have a PAT Certificate and Public Liability Insurance?

Yes, as members of the Musician's Union, we always have an up to date PAT certificate and Public Liability Insurance.

Can you provide background/party music in between the band's performance?

Although we cannot provide a full DJ service, we can provide background/party music in between the band's performance times (before the band starts, during the interval & at the end of the performance). You may also provide your own CD or mp3 set list that can be played through the PA if preferred.

How will the event run?

We have a vast amount of experience of helping to organise the events at which we perform and can offer guidance and suggestions for start times, buffet times, first dance timing etc so that your event runs smoothly and retains the best atmosphere for the evening. This can be discussed with you at the time of booking.

Can I choose the bands playlist?

Being highly experienced in performing at many different types of events, we pride ourselves on being able to choose the right songs for each individual event and tailor our sets accordingly. However, we are more than happy to play a selection of songs from our repertoire which have been hand picked by you for your event.

How much does it cost to book the band?

Prices vary depending upon such things as, the location of the event, whether you require early set up or possibly a later finish after midnight, if you wish the band to play for an extended period etc. If you have this information available then it will make it much easier to quote you an accurate price. If you wish to make an enquiry, you will find our details on the Contact page.

Other information

Sound Meters in venues - although the band can and does play in venues with sound meters installed, it is always preferable for a band using electrical instruments to not perform in a venue which has restrictions in place where a sound meter is in use as, this can result in the band having to play so quietly that their instruments cannot be heard properly or cannot be played at their optimum level for sound quality purposes, which ultimately can affect the overall performance and atmosphere of the event.

Please check with your venue if they do have a sound meter installed and make the band aware of this at time of booking.

Band requirements

In order for the band to prepare and get changed prior to & after performing, we require a private room with adequate space for 4 people (preferably lockable where the band's personal items & clothing will be safe during the event).

Any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
